Centrica tackles the issue of high winter gas demand - and profits

Centrica announced that in the first third of 2013 British Gas customers used nearly 20% more gas than in the same period last year. In other words, they spent a lot of money that has flowed into Centrica's coffers. The group has promised to use this extra profit to keep prices down, but in doing so will sacrifice higher margins.
