FATCA: UK follows in US's footsteps

The Cayman Islands has announced that it will implement a FATCA Model 1 intergovernmental agreement with the US and that it will seek similar automatic exchanges of information with the UK. The announcement marks the latest major offshore jurisdiction to enter into a FATCA agreement with the US and, unsurprisingly, also with the UK.

RBC Wealth Management to acquire Coutts units, expanding its global presence

RBC Wealth Management is to acquire the Latin American, Caribbean, and African private banking arms of Coutts, the private bank of RBS Group. The acquisition includes the clients who reside in these regions and private banking staff based in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands. The acquisition will increase RBC's client assets by more than $2bn to approximately $318bn, in highly desirable markets.
