TotalFinaElf: strong growth despite poor results

French oil major TotalFinaElf has reported Q2 profits of E1.5 billion, compared to E2.5 billion the previous year. Exclusion of non-recurring items reduces the drop to 23% and strong production growth has helped to offset weak energy prices.
