High net worth investors' high exposure to sovereign debt should be a major cause for concern

The passage of legislation in the US to raise the debt ceiling will be welcomed by investors worldwide, but US Treasuries are not out of the woods yet and Europe's debt faces further downgrades. HBOS: taking a punt on Ireland

UK banking group HBOS plans to open 46 outlets in Ireland under the banner of Bank of Scotland over the next 14 months. European consumers are still unconvinced, and the biotechnology companies behind the products fear the public may reject them. However consumers may learn to accept GM, first in nutraceuticals, and then in mainstream foods.

Game Group: had the gain, now for the pain

Fears of a major slump in the previously buoyant video games market have been realized by a trading update from market leader Game Group. The highly cyclical nature of the sector has been highlighted by the dual release of Game's figures for the 53 weeks to January 31, 2009, in which total UK and Ireland sales were up 25.7%, and for the 11 weeks to April 18, 2009, in which they were down 2.4%.
