The company is also launching its own branded Visa card, which will be accepted in the newly independent shops next to the service station. These developments will see YX Energi cater for its two core service station customer groups: large businesses, and private customers and small businesses.

The benefits created by smart metering are considerable, particularly dynamic pricing. Yet the most important element of smart metering - the customer - is little understood and is at risk of being overlooked. After acquiring 100% of its joint venture business from Norwegian company Norsk Hydro, Wingas UK has announced that it is seeking to significantly increase its share of the high end of the UK gas market. Although the recent market opening makes this a prudent time to become more aggressive, Wingas's designs on the UK market and its plans to sell higher volumes may be too narrow in scope.
