BMW's [BMW.F] Mini is holding its own against more established rivals in the new car market. It is also one of the lowest depreciating models in terms of used car sales. It is for this reason that BMW has decided to increase its investment into the Mini. This is a wise move, since sustained demand, even after four years on the market, suggests that the model is a mini goldmine.

Ignoring the potential cost savings of relocating industrial processes to lower cost countries, BMW has opened a new factory in Germany. However, it is widely believed that the decision to open the new plant in Leipzig rather than eastern Europe came about as a result of political pressure. BMW must acknowledge the risk that the move may not be in the long term interests of the company.
