Productscan records that, aside from blend, malt was the leading flavor in beer & ales in the year to March 2007, followed by hops and barley. Lemon flavor has gained popularity, ranking outside the leader board in the 12 months to March 2006, and joint sixth in the same period in 2007. This perhaps highlights that manufacturers are attempting to target women, with more sweeter flavors emerging in the beer & ales category.
