As yet, utility billing and payment via the Internet is rare. In the UK, only 14,682 customers pay online. In Sweden, the figure is 170,000, since contracts between utilities and the major banks allow ePayments to be accepted. However, Internet payment is likely to become more popular across Europe as confidence in security measures improves.
