Consumption of alcohol among young female adults (those consumers between the legal drinking age and 24 years) in the UK continues to rise. Young adult female consumption of alcoholic drinks in the UK will increase by almost 31% over the next five years, with 2009 consumption reaching 291 liters per head. Female young adults have more independence than in the past, higher levels of disposable income, and in many parts of the western world, female alcohol consumption no longer carries the social stigma that it once did.
